Overview

This Striker promo taps into a familiar cricket moment, a fan holding a “Marry Me” sign during a live match.
Instead of being impressed, our protagonist mocks the fan, proudly saying that she has already “claimed” that player… by buying him on Striker. It’s a playful take on fantasy cricket ownership, told in a quick, performance-friendly format.

What was the challenge or idea?

The concept relied on a single gag:
A fan proposes to a cricketer on TV but the woman watching at home one-ups her by saying she already “owns” him on Striker.

Challenges included:

  • Landing the joke fast within 20 seconds

  • Making the “ownership” metaphor clear without confusion

  • Blending humour with product clarity

  • Shooting in-house without a big budget production

How did Rotten Tree approach it?

Our approach was built around performance, timing, and relatability:

  • A natural living-room environment to feel authentic

  • A clean mid-shot for clarity and performance focus

  • Quick cutaways to the TV showing the “Marry Me” sign moment

  • A confident, sassy delivery from the protagonist

  • UI overlays and motion graphics highlighting the chosen player

  • A short, punchy CTA pointing to Striker’s gameplay

We kept everything lean and execution-focused so the joke lands immediately.

Impact & Usage

The film was deployed across:

  • Meta performance ads

  • YouTube 20s ads

  • Cricket tournament promotional cycles

  • In-app event promos

  • Striker’s high-intent user acquisition campaigns

Its humour and relatability made it especially strong for young cricket fans.

Cricket fandom is loud, emotional, and deeply personal.
Striker flipped that emotion into a fun fantasy cricket message:

“Fans may wave placards…
but real owners are the ones who pick the players.”

This promo helped communicate Striker’s player-purchase mechanic in the simplest, most entertaining way.

Animated visual depicting Jamni balancing family life and paid work for long-term financial security.

Trivia

  • Entire 20-second film shot in a single indoor setup

  • “TV moment” recreated using actual match footage style references

  • Multiple comedic alt-takes recorded

  • One of Striker’s most relatable fan-culture hooks
